Social Work (MSW)

Graduate social work education at the University of New Hampshire is built on a broad-based liberal arts perspective and includes a first year of professional foundation courses followed by two years of coursework plus internships.

To accommodate students with varying vocational and family commitment, the UNH Department of Social Work offers the Master of Social Work (MSW) program in a 3-year, weekend model in Manchester.  Classes meet Friday evenings and Saturday mornings year round.  The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Students complete a foundation course of study, then elect a concentration in either direct practice or community, administration, and planning (CAP).  Both concentrations require classroom work and two year long internships.

The program develops advanced professional knowledge and skill for persons interested in pursuing careers in the field of social work.  Graduates are employed in a wide variety of social and human service agencies as direct practitioners and in managerial roles.

Admission to the MSW program is administered through the UNH Graduate School.

For a list of courses being offered this term on the Manchester campus check out the course schedule (if you are not admitted to the social work program, you will need to acquire permission from the admissions coordinator to take a course).
